Paddle Grip Styles
Straight Shaft Grip Options:
Wedge Palm:
The Wedge Palm grip offers a firmer, more angular feel that’s ideal if you want maximum leverage and solid control. Its pronounced shape locks comfortably into your hand, making it especially useful in moving water, technical maneuvers, or when extra power is needed. The Wedge Palm bridges the gap between comfort and performance, appealing to paddlers who want precision without sacrificing hand support.
T-Grip:
The T-Grip is the traditional choice for whitewater and demanding conditions. Its crossbar shape gives you a strong, locked-in hold, even when wet or under heavy force. This grip offers the most leverage for quick, powerful strokes and reliable control in turbulent water. While less forgiving on long flatwater trips, it’s the go-to option for paddlers who value security and responsiveness above all else.
Bent Shaft Grip Option:
Contour Palm:
The Contour Palm grip is our most comfortable and supportive option, shaped to fit naturally in your hand. Its sculpted curves reduce fatigue on long days and give you solid control with every stroke. All of our bent shaft paddles come exclusively with the Contour Palm grip, since the combination is designed for smooth, efficient forward paddling. On straight shafts, it’s also an excellent choice if you want a secure, all-around grip that feels easy on the hands mile after mile.
Symmetrical Palm
The Symmetrical Palm grip is designed for paddlers who like precision and quick transitions. Its smaller, balanced shape allows your wrist to move freely for subtle steering, draw strokes, and smooth corrections. Because it rotates easily in the hand, it’s perfect for short bursts of power or when you need to change cadence often. This versatile “middle-ground” grip performs well in flat water, moving water, and even on portage-heavy trips.
